Nothing has officially introduced its latest smartphone, the Phone (4a), in a striking new pink finish — marking the first time the brand has rolled out the vibrant colourway across its product portfolio.
More than just a cosmetic refresh, the pink edition signals a deeper design statement. Known for its transparent aesthetic and industrial-inspired detailing, Nothing describes the new hue as a celebration of expressive technology — one that leans into optimism rather than neutrality.
A Colour with Cultural Meaning
According to Lucy Birley, Colour, Material and Finish Design Lead at Nothing, the inspiration behind pink is rooted in both nostalgia and material experimentation.
“There’s a lot of amazing old tech references that we go back to very often,” she shared. Birley notes that “pink is actually just desaturated red,” explaining that when the tint is applied within the phone’s transparent casing, the way light interacts with the resin beneath creates a unique depth effect.
The result is a layered, almost luminous finish that highlights the intricate detailing beneath the surface — a signature element of Nothing’s design language. By placing the tint inside the transparency rather than simply coating the exterior, the device maintains the dimensional quality that fans have come to expect from the brand.

Pink Takes Over London
To commemorate the launch, Nothing staged a series of cheeky, culture-led activations across London. Central flyposters were “disrupted” with graffiti featuring playful cultural references to the colour pink, while the window of the Nothing Store Soho underwent a full pink graffiti takeover.
The campaign reflects the brand’s continued alignment with art, music, fashion and broader pop culture — pillars that have heavily influenced its visual identity since inception.

Beyond the Colour
While hardware specifications remain consistent with the existing Phone (4a) lineup, the pink edition injects a fresh personality into the mid-range segment. In a market often dominated by monochrome finishes, Nothing’s decision underscores its commitment to standing apart — not only through transparent construction and LED glyph lighting, but also through bold colour storytelling.
With the Phone (4a) in pink, Nothing reinforces its philosophy that technology should be fun, expressive and culturally aware — proving that even in a saturated smartphone landscape, colour can still make a statement.
